Off to Croatia

The view from our friend's house. Worth the journey.

We arrived at the airport early for our overnight flight from Boston to Amsterdam and enjoyed a fancy lounge while we waited.

From Amsterdam we got on a 'city hopper' which took us to our final destination of Dubrovnik. Thankfully both flights were smooth and we were able to get some rest on our journey.

We spent our first night in Dubrovnik where it was so unusually humid that even the locals were complaining. That didn't stop us from enjoying the views of the Adriatic and taking a little walk before turning in.

The next morning we rented a car and drove a couple hours north along the gorgeous coast to get on the ferry to KorĨula.

We were on the wrong side of the road to get any good pics of the coastline from the car, so you'll have to imagine the beautiful mountains meeting the clear blue sea. We'll make sure to get some pics on our return voyage.

A view of the old town from the ferry. We had no cell service for the last couple hours of our trip so we had to ask to borrow someone's phone to call our friend's Ben and Tanja who were meeting us on the other side to take us to their house. We only had to ask about five people before we found someone who spoke English.

Once off the ferry, we followed our friends on a series of progressively smaller and smaller roads out in to the countryside, until we got to their house. It's completely off grid, situated above a bunch of terraced olive groves overlooking the Adriatic.

We headed off for a swim a short drive and hike down the hillside to a stony limestone beach tucked away in a little cove. The water was beautiful, and the Mediterranian is a relatively salty sea, so it's very easy to just float in the water.

Later on the clouds starting coming in for a very rare summer thunderstorm and rain.

For dinner that night we made fresh muscles, pasta, and salad. Delicious.

The view from our room. We're starting to see why our friends enjoy this place so much. We could get used to it here.

  1. Ben and Tanya look happy. I guess you haven't shown them the picture of Devora snuggling with Vanessa yet.
