Croatia - part 2

We had a great time in Croatia. Here are some pics of the rest of our week. Starting off with a walk through Korčula old town where there are lots of adorable street cats.

We all stopped to admire the trumpet vine. While perhaps not quite as idyllic
of a setting, it grows in Somerville too.

Sunset from Ben and Tanja's patio.

Ben making wood fired pizza.

It came out perfect.

After the storm the night before, it was cool enough in the morning to go for a hike on the country roads. Here we are at the end of our hike at the top of Ben and Tanja's driveway.

We had an amazing lunch at this farm to table restaurant where everything they make is grown right here and cooked by a mother daughter team. We had a pea and fennel pate, pasta with shrimp, monk fish with sautéed vegetable stew, and pomegranate sorbet for dessert. It was all incredible.

Here I am picking figs back at Ben and Tanja's. Don't I look like I fit right in? They had both green and black fig, olive, almond, and pomegranate trees. Both the figs and almonds were ripe.

Here we are at another beach. The swimming is absolutely incredible here. Clean clear blue water. Very calm, very refreshing. I asked Ben how it compared to other places since they have traveled and swam all over the world. He says Croatia is the best. While I haven't been to nearly as many places, I certainly can't disagree.

This is Ben and Tanja's Croatian cat, Mindola (almond aka tonsilles). She is incredible sweet, adorable, and little. It's hard to get a good pic of her because she's always moving around for more pets. She moves her front paws up and down and closes her eyes when she is enjoying her pets. It's painfully cute.

Another terrible sunset.

We can't get over the color of the water. Here we are on the ferry back to the mainland, making our way back to Dubrovnik.

We stopped at the Trsteno Arboretum on our way back. They had all sorts of fun trees and gardens.

After dinner in Dubrovnik we walked around town before getting to bed for our early ferry to Italy the next morning.

And here it is, waiting for us!

This photo was taken from our hotel window where we were staying in the port. We were looking at all the boats large and small joking about which one would be our ferry. To our surprise, this was it, which I would describe as more of a small cruise ship than a ferry.

Next we are off to Bari, Italy.

  1. Croatia looks like the place to go! Who takes care of the cat when they are away?

    1. The cats all seem to be pretty communal. They know how to be cute and get food :).
